Road Trip

Well my mom and I decided to pack up and take a day trip to Denton to watch Krystle Graduate from college. We left at 6:30 in the morning and got back a little before midnight. It made for one long day but to see Krystle's face when she walked out made the trip well worth it. I can honestly say she was SHOCKED, to bad we weren't able to capture it on camera! Here are some picture of mom and I with UNT grad. Way to go Krys!

Just A SNOW Picture

So as most of you know it snowed here Friday, who would have ever thought. Greg and I decided to take picture, but due to the fact he thinks the camera tripod I bought is his personal one for hunting and neglected to bring it back we had to improvise with the ladder but it worked so I can't complain too much. I would have a preferred a full body shot but the camera wouldn't stay on its side on the ladder, go figure. I was pretty happy with the end result though. We didn't get snow much but hey some is better then none, right!

Thanksgiving

Okay so as most of you know my sister-in-law is one of a kind and always has a camera in hand. At Thanksgiving she took this picture and I must admit, when she took it I thought it was going to be awful but it is actually a really good picture of the two us.....Thanks for sharing Lauren!! I know it would be much nicer if I would have lost the camo jacket but I was cold!

Thank goodness

Well Greg got our fireplace working when he arrived home this rotation, which I am very thankful for. The is something about sitting in the living room with the fireplace going that I just find so relaxing and peaceful. Maybe it is because growing up we never had a fire in the fireplace, well let me rephrase that, we only had a fire in the fireplace maybe 5 times in my entire life. My mom would constantly run out of the house o make sure it wasn't on fire, you see our chimney wasn't tall enough and so the smoke would come back in the house. so now we have a nice fire in the fireplace I am waiting for our Christmas present for each other to arrive which is an outdoor A&M fire pit for the back porch!! Which I am even more excited about, can't for it to come in and for my nephews and niece to come so we can make smores, yummy!!

Long Over Due!

Okay, so I have really been falling down on this whole blog thing lately but I have been super busy with the holidays, along with school (which there is only a week left, woohoo!). But here is the lastest of what has been going on since my last post. Greg arrived home November 18th to this, and boy was he ever so excited about fixing it! Lets just say our water bill last month was almost double. So after almost working all day, seriously, he found a super small crack in the pipe (when I say super small, I mean super small maybe 3 inches long and I could barely stick my fingernail in it!!) but it appears to be fixed haven't noticed any water rushing over the sidewalk like before. We are also sure that the Pinkertons love us and we are definately sure it improved the value of their house that is for sale, to have big dirt piles right on the property line!! Here are some picture of my husband hard at work!

Most Wonderful Time of Year....

Yep, that is right, I absolutely love Christmas. This year worked out well with Greg being gone it allowed me to put my Christmas stuff without hearing anyone complain that it was too early (I have not done the outside yet, figured I would wait for my wonderful husband to help with that!). I have set everything out but my village, simply because I can't decide where I want to set it up at. I am mainly posting these picture for the ladies at the bank, as they have told mom that they bet I have one super tree, and while my tree is by no means "super" it is me and I love it, however, I wouldn't have it without my wonderful mom. My mom has given me ornaments along with my cousins every year for Christmas for as long as I can remember, I think all of the ornaments on the tree are from her with the exception of my 5 or 6 that I have bought, but rest assured I haven't bought many. And I don't know what I would do without Aunt Jo, she once again came through last year with a wreath and I have another one for her to do this year, she just doesn't know it yet. As for the candle holders, I did those myself this year and I must say I am pretty impressed, they actually turned out well and look really nice. So I hope you all enjoy and Happy Holidays!!

This is our "office" tree....My mom started giving Greg a&m ornaments when we got married so I found it fitting to set up in the office, since everything else in there is a&m.

This is my main tree in our entry way....with all my ornaments

So this is the wreath that Aunt Jo made me last year with the garland mom put up, came out of the box pretty well, didn't have to do anything to it!!

My creation this year....

Last but not least my willow tree figurines...they are my table centerpieces and I love them!

Who Says???

Okay so who says that I am not a country girl. While I have a project due on Thursday that I really should have been working on, since I am getting a paper on Tuesday that is also due Thursday, I decided that it was way too pretty to spend the day inside, so out to work in the yard it was. I started by picking all the weeds in the flower bed and cutting off my dead leaves on ives in the front, imagine my shock when I moved to the back and found a visitor, needless to say th visitor is now one dead visitor.

I have no idea what kind of snake it is, but to me the only good snake is a dead one. I am not a big fan of them!!

Just for Greg

Well Greg is on one of his last trips to Angola hopefully and yesterday he asked for the blog address, which I thought was quite funny. When I asked why, his response was that he wanted to see the pillows my mom made for our bed, needless to say I have been so unbelievably busy with school that I hadn't posted any. So I figured today I better get busy. I have finally officially used all the bedding that we received when we were married, and her decorative pillows turned out wonderful, more then I expected to them as well.

He also ask daily about his grass, unfortunately it still has big brown spots!!!

Love Grows.....

That is right, Wednesday Greg and I were officially married for three years on Wednesday and although we have been through some changes (you know gaining weight, extreme haircuts, living oversea, the usual things) our love for one another continues to grow. I think that I am safe in saying that even though we spends a month apart at a time, we are a stronger couple because of it and don't honestly know what we would do without one another. Sadly we went no one for our anniversary or even did anything as Greg is on his rotation in Angola. Hopefully in January the rotation will stop will stop, which we are both looking forward too, but that will be a huge adjust again! On the bright side he will be working out of the Mustang office (still for Chevron) their project is just located in that building so it will be nice to have him around again. Maybe this next time Greg is home I will convince him to take me somewhere, can't break a tradition. Our first year we went on our honeymoon to Jamaica, and last year we went to the Philippines, this year I would be willing to settle for California or Vegas, haha!!

This is an up-to-date picture taken 4 days before our anniversary!

I know the post is a little late but I am way behind on school and I have three test within the next two weeks I have been studying for!!

Korea Reunion

So this weekend was a busy one to say the least, and unfortnately my husband flew out again this morning for what will be one of the last before he comes back to Houston for a couple years, yes that is right he got his next assignment and it will be Houston...This last year has been a busy one and this weekend we met up with some people that we spent time in Korea with. Sharmaine can to Houston to visit her boyfriend now living back over here in the States. It was a great time and we got to catch up with some people we haven't seen in quite awhile. Thanks Rob and Allison for having us all over, it was a blast!

More Visitors...

So Greg and I had visitors this weekend. Uncle Greg got lots of playing time in, however, I have a test this afternoon so I was studying and have been. But figured I would take a moment to post this as two hours of studying at one time is about all I can do without some type of break. It was kind of funny when they walked in, as David hasn't seen our house decorated. Anyway, it was great to have Kim, David and Kayden here. Hopefully that will come back soon. They have to, as Kayden put it, "We have a really cool house and trash can," haha. It was way too cute, and I think it is the first time that Greg and I have actually spent time with just David, Kim and Kayden. So thanks for a great visit, hopefully next time I will get to visit alot more and won't have tests!!

Because she never says no....

So my mom got roped into making curtains for me, as my husband says you always ask her because you know she won't tell you no. Which I guess is partly true, but it is like I tell her, you are just so much better at. Granted she taught me how to sew and I a grateful for that, but I didn't inherit the whole patience for sewing thing, I guess. However, if she ever actually did decide to tell me no then I guess I might have to take it up, but for now I will let her do all the sewing!! Thanks Mom! She finally completed the curtain for my living room/breakfast room and brought them up to me today! I absolutely love them, and they look great!

Kidnapped....

My favorite visitors (pretty much only visitors) came up this weekend and kidnapped me for a couple hours to accompany them to a birthday party. It just made my day, especially when my little man told his mommy "no, indsay sit here" (as it doesn't say the "L") but it was way too cute. Just wanted to make me cry. Of course before we left for the party, we had to play catch! Unfortunately I didn't get any picture of Missy, but she was here with her mommy as well!

Thanks guys for another great visit! I just don't know what I would do without them sometimes, as they help the month go by without Greg and helps me feel so not alone!!

New Living Room, New Breakfast Room

Okay so it only fits, you redo one room you have to redo the adjoining rooms, right??
We had stripe fabric for the seat of the chairs of our breakfast room needless to say it didn't really match our new couches in the living room so I found fabric almost identical to the couches at hobby lobby, problem solved, well almost...I recovered the chairs but needless to say I was real good at attaching the back to the frame, Greg will have to fix a few when he his home this next time, however, they sure do look nice, haha!

Koozies anyone???

Well as most of you know Greg was president of his class in high school, and they have been working on their class reunion that will be in two weeks. They placed him in charge of koozies so I decided to be creative and here is what I have done,

needless to say I am really good at finding ways to put off homework. They haven't had many rsvps, I think only 20, so I only made ten of these and Greg ordered some others but anyhow they will be on a first come first serve basis.

He has done it.....

That is right, Greg finally finished a to-do list that I created for him.....it only took three rotations for him to do but he did. Lets just say I already have started one for the next time he is off which will include three more frames, since he did such a wonderful job on the one he made this time!! Anyway the last thing on he his list was to help me hang the pictures in the spare bedroom so here are the new pictures of it...I have to say it is by far my favorite room in the house, I just might start staying in it!

This is the frame he made to go around a picture I had blown up to create a piece of artwork for the room...The picture was of a wall in China, I just fell in love with it, I honestly would love to paint on a wall in my house but do to my lack of artistic talent I guess the picture will just have to do.

This is the second thing I need help with, lets just say it is quite difficult to get pictures straight when all the hooks to hang them on are not in the same spot on the pictures, but is okay we got and it looks fanatastic. Now Greg and I just need to have a get together at our house so everyone can see it!

They're Finished....

That is right, Greg has been home a week and he already completed the top thing on his to do list!! It is a project that has been in progress for quite some time but they are finally done!! I had a cut out in my laundry room that was a complete waste of space, so I asked my husband to build shelves for it, easy task right?, not so much. Turns out our walls aren't straight but anyhow he finally finished them with much complaining of how he is NOT carpenter, and I must say they look great. I have filled them up for the most part and they are still in tack, hopefully they stay that way!!

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Well as most of you know, when Greg is home we spend alot of time doing projects around the house. Since he is gone, I have done my own projects. Granted my projects definately are not as big as our projects, especially with my currect school schedule but I did do somethings while he has been gone this rotation. To start with, I completed our living room. We bought new furniture when he was home but it just happened that some of it didn't come in until he left, which left me to put it together, luckily I have the best mom in the world who helped me. I love the new look!

I also update our spare bedroom with our bedding we bought in China. When we first moved in, I could not put it out as I didn't have it, it was still in Korea. I must say the bedding looks outstanding. I still need to hang some pictures above the bed and one opposite of it but haven't had time to do them, plus I am waiting on one to come in, I am going to try something different with it. I will post more pictures once I get totally finished but this is what it is so far.

I also rearranged our office as I found myself spending more time looking out the windows then I did actually working on homework, so we now have a "conversation area," is quite unique and works out really nice in there.
Last but not least, I replanted some plants in bigger pots, that I found a Garden Ridge for half off. Those of you that know me, know that I love pots and you can't beat the price when Garden Ridge has them half off!

Hope you all enjoy the pictures, I will update with more once I am totally finished!
