So this Friday we let Mackenzie skip school and headed to Busan since Greg was off for DSME foundation day (and this will be his last holiday until our R&R and Christmas, both in December of course!) We left bright and early Friday morning and went to the aquarium. Mackenzie has been asking to go to the aquarium since we went in July in Dallas, she loved it. We arrived to the aquarium around 10. The drive was nice, not to much traffic and took about 1:30. We parked in a parking lot with the buses and was hoping the lot was not 24,000 won an hour (which is turned out not to be, thankfully, or I think my husband might have had a fit). The kids loved the aquarium and the fish. Mackenzie kept asking for the sharks which of course were near the end but all in all it was nice. They even had a play area for the kids, which Mackenzie and Braxton loved! I think the Koreans enjoyed watching my kids as well. Quite honestly they are quite the celebrities here, I am not sure they are going to know what to do when we get back to the states and not everyone waves at them or try to get them to give the fives!! After we left the aquarium we went have lunch as Burger King (woohoo) but the kids loved it! Braxton ate all 6 chicken nuggets that we bought him and Mackenzie and Mackenzie of course ate the french fries. I got a chicken sandwich that I was less then impressed with and Greg got a hamburger which I wish I would have gotten! After lunch we went to the beach for a bit and then headed to the hotel, and made the kids take naps and went swimming when they woke up. They had a blast, needless to say Mackenzie I think forgot how to swim so come next July when we are in we will definitely have to sign her up. Next we went walking around and had supper. We ate Korean, Greg and I like eating Korean, as I can cook pretty much everything American we want. One little dude loved his meal, and one little girl had to be bribed to eat her whole 3 (yes 3) pieces of meat. Sometimes he eats really well, sometimes she does, but we have discovered that if we care to eat out we have to go about 6, any later and neither eat! Following supper we went to Baskin Robbins and went to the open market to pick up a dumpling from the street vendors, I used to get them here in Okpo but have not been able to find them this time around. Our sleep that night was little, we had twin (yes Single) beds. I slept with Mackenzie and Braxton with Greg, but it worked and other then my daughter kicking me in the face, I slept pretty well, Greg did not. Saturday morning we picked up Dunkin Donuts and headed to Costco since we were already in Busan, after our shopping trip we headed home. It was a good time, nice to get out of town for a bit. We are really looking for to December and our R&R. We booked a trip to Phuket, Thailand, we will leave Korea on December 12th and return the 21st. I think come January we will start looking at our trip back to states probably leaving here the first week of July, and return the first part of August (at least the kids and I, Greg of course won't be able to stay that long) which means, the kids and I alone for one way of the trip (eek!!)
Here are a couple pictures from our weekend away!
